ABOUT US
Praxis-CPD is the newest off-shoot of PRAXIS - PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, a partnership established in 1999 between Richard Broadley and Lina Mookerjee. There are two other branches of the partnership, Praxis Therapy and the Praxis School of Yoga; and all three occupy mutually supportive roles in the provision of personal development and therapy-related services.
RICHARD BROADLEY (MA, UKRCP regd, FRSM, Senior Accredited Clinical & Training Member of the BACP)
Richard is a counsellor, psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and practice/training consultant. Until 2002 he was a Principal Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Nottingham Trent University, working alongside Alan Frankland in co-leading a BACP-accredited PG Diploma/MA in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy. Richard then took early retirement because of his deteriorating sight - although registered blind in1980, he had sufficient residual vision to continue working as a trainer for more than 20 years.
Richard's active involvement in training has been quite minimal since leaving Trent, although his interest and engagement in course planning and consultancy has continued. He conceived this present venture some time ago after recognizing a dearth of CPD provision in the East Midlands. The gestation period has taken longer than he anticipated!
Richard's role in Praxis-CPD is overall responsibility for selecting event topics; locating, negotiating with and booking tutors/contributors; advertising and publicity; website content; finances; and general logistics (which includes setting out the chairs).
LINA MOOKERJEE (BSc, DMS, BWY Dip & DCT, MIYN, Systemic Integration Therapist)
As a Yoga teacher and trainer of Yoga teachers Lina has gained national acclaim for her distinctive person-centred approach and ability to combine her experiences within a Hindu Brahmin Tantric cultural upbringing with her current understanding and application of Western humanistic philosophy and psychology.
After almost a decade of working in the energy distribution industry as a professional electrical engineer, she gained her BWY Teaching Diploma in 2002 and Diploma Course Tutor licence in 2005. She completed running her first 3-year Teachers Diploma in 2008. Lina has vast experience of and considerable expertise in working with the concepts of energy, the Chakric energetic system, and Tantra Yoga - with individuals and in group settings. Lina also works therapeutically with individual clients, incorporating a psychophysical and neuro-energetic approach into her practice - a way of working she refers to as systemic integration therapy.
Lina's role in Praxis-CPD is primarily organisational and supporting Richard with tasks which he (or his modified computer) cannot accomplish.
LYN ARROWSUCH (RMN, BA Social Policy and Administration, BSc Community Health Care Nursing)
Lyn spent much of her earlier career working as a community psychiatric nurse and was most recently employed in the Nottingham Perinatal Psychiatric Service. She successfully led a project for Sure Start, to develop a multi-disciplinary approach to identifying and supporting families where there are mental health issues related to pregnancy and childbirth.
Although she enjoyed much of her time in the NHS, Lyn became aware of her need for a change of direction and is now beginning her training to become a Yoga teacher. She has been attending weekly classes for a number of years and is reaping the benefits of utilising what yoga has to offer for personal development. Lyn feels passionate about sharing this philosophy with others. Whilst undertaking her own career development, Lyn is pleased to be working with Richard and Lina, currently supporting them with the implementation of Praxis-CPD.
Lyn's role in Praxis-CPD is that of Administrator, being responsible for responding to enquiries and managing bookings; e-mail publicity and mailing lists; updating and improving the website; logistics and general organisation; and supporting Richard behind, and sometimes in front of, the scenes.
